Grönskär lighthouse is located in Stockholm's outer archipelago east of Sandhamn. The lighthouse was built in 1770 and consists of granite and sandstone. In 1786 the lighthouse was raised to 23 meters and took on the appearance it has today. Parts of the old wooden interior still remain in the tower. The lighthouse was called the Queen of the Baltic Sea because of its beauty. It was taken out of service in 1961 and replaced by the Revengegrundet class lighthouse.
