The Faroe Islands lighthouse is located in the northwestern Faroe Islands and was intended to warn shipping of the Salvorev sandbanks.
The approximately 30-meter-high stone tower is still in use and is maintained by the Swedish Maritime Administration. The lighthouse was built between 1846-1847 and is a white round tower with a round gray limestone base.
The lighthouse has been updated and improved several times during its lifetime, from rapeseed oil lamps to kerosene lamps, and in 1953 it was electrified. In 1977 the lighthouse was demanned.
