The flag of Nepal consists of two stacked triangles; it has a red background and a blue border. The lower triangle features a white sun with twelve rays, while the upper triangle displays a white crescent moon and a sun with twelve rays.
Nepal's flag is the only one in the world that is not quadrilateral.
The symbols at the top and bottom represent the Royal House and the influential Rana dynasty. Earlier versions of the flag depicted these symbols with human faces, but in 1962, the flag was redesigned to its current form.
