The Blockhusudden lighthouse began construction in 1905 and in 1912 became the first in the world to be equipped with solvent, which shuts off the gas supply during the day before reconnecting the gas to the lighthouse at night. In 1995, the lighthouse was electrified and the gas equipment was removed.
The lighthouse is located just outside Blockhusudden at Djurgården in the Stockholm inlet.
