Venezuela’s flag features three horizontal bands of equal size: yellow at the top, blue in the middle, and red at the bottom. An arc of eight white stars appears in the blue band.
The classic yellow, blue, and red tricolor was officially adopted by the country upon its declaration of independence in 1811. The colors represent the nation's wealth, the sea separating the country from Spain, and the blood shed for freedom. The flag was last modified in 2006, when the eighth star was added.
