The flag of the Czech Republic features two horizontal bands—white (top) and red (bottom), with a blue isosceles triangle extending from the hoist side to the center.
Following the formation of Czechoslovakia in 1918, a white-and-red flag was initially used, but a new design featuring a blue triangle was soon introduced. The current flag was adopted by parliament in 1920 and became the national flag of Czechoslovakia.
When Czechoslovakia dissolved in 1993, the Czech Republic retained the flag as its own national symbol.
