The Romanian flag consists of three vertical bands of equal width: blue at the hoist, yellow in the middle, and red at the fly.
The flag was adopted in 1989. The colors are considered traditional Romanian colors. Although the flag was originally created in 1848, its appearance has changed over time through the addition or removal of the coat of arms.
The Romanian flag is very similar to the flag of Chad; the only difference is the shade of blue.
