The Polish flag consists of two horizontal bands of equal size. The upper band is white and the lower one is red.
White and red were designated as national colors in 1792, on the first anniversary of the adoption of the Polish Constitution. They were formally established as the colors of the Polish state by the Polish Sejm during the November Uprising against Russian occupation in 1831. After Poland regained its independence, the Constituent Assembly confirmed the design of the Polish flag in August, 1919.
