Nationsflagga i flera storlekar!
The flag of East Timor is red with a black triangle and a yellow arrowhead shape at the hoist (the side nearest the flagpole), as well as a white five-pointed star within the black triangle.
After having been part of the Portuguese colonial empire, East Timor declared independence in 1975. At that time, the independence movement created a flag for the new state. The colors of the new national flag and the white star were derived from the independence movement's party flag. Shortly after independence, Indonesia invaded the country; following East Timor's return to independence in 2002, the original flag from 1975 was reinstated.
