Macau's flag features a green background and is adorned with a white lotus flower. The official design also includes a bridge and water beneath the flower, as well as five yellow stars that mirror those on China's flag.
Macau's flag was adopted in 1999 upon the handover from Portugal to China; prior to this, the Portuguese flag was used.
Stylized water appears beneath the lotus flower, and above the water, Macau's famous landmark, the Nobre Governador Carvalho Bridge, is depicted.
